The Scout movement began in 1907 when Robert Baden-Powell, a soldier from the British army, took a group of boys on a camping trip on a small island off the south coast of England.
Scouting( army language means 'reconocimiento del terreno') rapidly became popular and by 1910, there were more than 100.000 members with Scout groups in 14 countries around the world.
The GIRL GUIDES were set up in 1910, led by Agnes Baden-Powell, Robert's sister.
Robert died in 1941, but the popularity of Scouts and Guides continued to rise.
Since 1990, girls as well boys have been able to join some Scout groups and finally since 2007 all groups.
In the UK, SCOUTS and GUIDES are divided into different groups by age:
Scouts can star as BEAVERS from age 6, then become CUBS ( 8-10), SCOUTS(10-14), EXPLORER SCOUTS (14-18) before joining the SCOUT NETWORK(18-25).
GUIDES can begin as RAINBOWS aged 4 or 5, then become BROWNIES (7-10) and GUIDES (10+)
